ESCAPISM

performance with sound installation
2021

Picture - Jose-Gabriel Bazan Gauthier

ESCAPISM unfolds as a performative installation exploring the tension between constraint and escape.

Built from a structure of acrylic, metal, and elastic elements, the installation becomes both instrument and scenographic environment. Sounds are generated directly from the structure itself, recorded and triggered through embedded sensors, alongside fragments of the artist’s recorded voice.

Through the interaction between sound, shadow, and movement, the work reflects on inner confrontation, the fragile balance between tension, release, and the impulse to break free. Each attempt to escape introduces moments of disruption, where body and sound fracture, revealing the instability of the system.
